Glossary of Terms
There are a lot of special terms used in relation to websites. Let DJW help take the mystery out of them. Know what you are getting.

Content Page: A page that displays additional information to the customer other than your actual products.
Example: Home Page, Education Page, Contact Page, About Us Page

Diamond Upload: A diamond upload is how we transfer your diamond inventory from DJ Wizard or other sources to the website database. Without the upload, there are no diamonds on the website.
Domain Name: A domain name is the address your customers type into the address bar of their web browser. This name has to be registered, usually at a low fee of a few dollars a month.
Example: www.yourcompanyname.com

Flash: Flash is a multimedia tool that can be used to create animations or entire websites. Jewel Pavilion is not compatible with Flash, although individual Flash animations may be inserted on particular pages. Flash requires that the customer has a current version of the Adobe Flash Player for viewing.
Note: Flash is an Adobe product.
Form: A website form is a page that will take information entered by the viewer and emails that information to the designated recipient.

HTML: HTML is the basic coding tool for building websites.

Index Page: This is the first page your customers will see when they go to your website.
Also known as: Home Page, Front Page, Main Page
IP address: "Internet Protocol Address" - This is the numerical address of your website. This is associated with your hosting and is similar to a physical street address. The IP address OR the domain name may be used to access a website.

Rapaport: Rapaport is an online diamond price listing that establishes the average retail price for different diamond qualities.

SEO: SEO stands for "Search Engine Optimization". This encompasses a variety of methods for attempting to boost ranking with search engines.
SSL Certificate: An SSL Certificate provides secure communications on the Internet by encrypting the information. This is important for websites that accept credit card information online, so that strangers cannot intercept the credit card information. There is usually a $100+ yearly fee for the certificate.

Upload: An upload sends information to your website or other websites. You are loading information up into the Internet.
URL: The URL is the address you type into the address bar in your web browser to go to a website.
Example: http://www.djwinc.com

Web Hosting: A Web Host provides the virtual real estate where we can build your website. This space is rented from hosting services, typically for no more than $15/month.
